You're standing in the TV aisle of your local electronics store. Thirty televisions stare back at you. On the shelf above, thirty more televisions sit. Above that, still more. And they all look the same.
It's a terrifying feeling. You don't know which one to get, and it seems like everyone around you knows more than you do.
Then that sinking feeling hits you as you open up the box. You have no idea how to install ANY of this.
Electronics are supposed to be easy to buy, install, and use. The sad truth is that they're only getting more complicated. You don't know what to do, and the more you try to look at the manual, the more complicated things become.
You don't want to deal with the headache of installing your expensive equipment incorrectly, and just looking at the back of the television is daunting.
Finally, you give up, and let a so-called expert install your new TV, AND you have no idea how any of it works.
Hi, I'm Nayan Ramachandran, and I know how difficult, time-consuming and expensive putting together a home theater system can seem.
In this presentation, I'm going to show you how to buy a television, and how to buy the components you need at a price you can afford.

Of course, The Geek Squad Specialists at your local Best Buy are more than happy to help you install your new equipment once you've purchased it, but they'll charge you up to $150 just to hook up all your equipment, without even concealing the wires when they're done!
Plus, both specialists and store clerks are often offered extra commission for selling certain products. They're more likely to sell you more stuff you don't need at prices you shouldn't pay, just so they can get more money. The sad truth is that they care more about how much you spend than how satisfied you are.
If they're fighting that hard to sell you on a specific television or piece of equipment, chances are they're getting paid more to make sure you go home with it.
Instead of having an expert by your side to guide you through the process, you're fumbling around with wires you can't name, plugging them into equipment you don't understand.
Time passes, and you're almost finished, only to realize you made a mistake hours ago that's going to take even more time to undo.
Without the proper knowledge, setting up a home theater can be more than...
